I haven't figured out why I can't seem to use the Synch function with my PC Connect. I'm trying to transfer a file from my PC to the BE-300. BE-300 (either by itself or as part of a custom UI) and using Microsoft's ActiveSync application to browse the unit as you would a Pocket PC or other external storage.

I think you pretty much need to use a PC as the intermediary. Both my PPC and my T610 have the ability to sync independently with Outlook on the desktop, so that is how I keep them together. You might want to check out http://www.sync4j.org (but Outlook sync would be less hassle)
